Every new year we take a minute, before the estimates and the post holes start again, to say thank you. Whether it was a gate rehung in an afternoon or a mile of ranch fence, we appreciate every property owner around Lake Livingston who called us, trusted us on their place, or sent a neighbor our way. Happy New Year from all of us in Onalaska.

Looking back

The past year had us on everything from backyard privacy fences to pasture fence on acreage, corrals, lakefront chain link, driveway gates with openers, decks and pergolas, and a lot of storm repair. No two properties are the same, which is a big part of what keeps the work interesting after twenty years.

Looking ahead

The start of the year is a good time to plan a fence or gate project, even if the work is weeks or months out. Winter is easier on the crew and the ground, the brush is down, and getting on the schedule early means less waiting when spring fills the calendar. A short outdoor list for the year

1. Walk the fence after the wet months and push on the posts. The inspection routine.
2. Fix the gate that has dragged since last summer. Gates.
3. Wash and stain in spring, in that order. Staining.
